The Black Noodle Project – Divided We Fall - 2017

The music here is post-prog, according to the band, but I would label it more as post-rock with some Floydian elements. It is quite emotional and climatic, almost to a fault, though.  

Soaring, elongated guitars are the primary means of communication here, along with some great drumming and atmospheric keys.

The album is rather spacey at times, and driving and purposeful in others.

So, the performances are great, and the sound is solid.  However, I find that this album lacks some of the depth and personality of the last release, unfortunately.  

Every song seems to climax the same way, giving a monotonous feeling throughout the album.  

The instrumentals are well composed and performed, but nothing all that exciting happens, outside of a few moments here and there.  Some of the tracks seem rather disposable completely.

Albúm solo para entendidos... en este album santana se va al carajo y cambia totalmente su estilo con un toque jazzero y prog rock, un albúm de culto a mi parecer donde deja ver que gran artista fue, terribles solos pasajes instrumentales que si cierras los ojos te encuentras el mero paraiso, una joya que debes de escuchar antes de morir, uno de mis albúms favoritos y otra obra maestra que demuestra que la musica no necesita tener letras para poder expresar todo el poder del sentimiento, feeling en su maxima expresion SANTANA gente SANTANA en los 70's, comprenlo si pueden.... y a volar gente a volar....

Believe-Progresivo Polaco!

Según explican en la página del grupo, Mirek Gil inició el proyecto, involucrando luego a Tomek Rozcki y a otras cinco personas que venían de distintos ángulos musicales: Adam Milosz, Przemek Zawadzki, Vlodi Tafel, Satomi y Robert Sieradzki. Mirek, Tomek y Przemas se entendieron por la música como pasión y dicha de crear. Adam, Satomi y Tafel por la educación, notas, música formal y habilidad para perderse en Believe. Todos se entendieron bien. Ninguno intentó el dominio sobre estilo ni concepto, haciendo simplemente lo que sentían correcto. Pronto realizaron el álbum "Hope to See Another Day", apropiadamente titulado si se observa parte de la historia que hay detrás del líder que creó al grupo: rastreando la trayectoria musical de Mirek Gil, podemos encontrarlo con el grupo Quidam donde aparece como guitarrista de sesión en su álbum inicial. Luego fue miembro fundador del grupo Collage, banda cuya alineación y estabilidad no ha sido precisamente sólida. Cuando ésta tuvo su primer ruptura, Gil se fue con otro de los miembros y formaron Satellite, permaneciendo sólo para su álbum debutante, involucrándose después con ex integrantes de Collage para formar Believe. La filosofía musical de Believe dicta que “la música no es una pista de correr. No hay una carrera sucediendo y está bien que sea así. Guste o no. Believe conectó unos pocos mundos musicales… hay que dejar que el resultado sea placentero para todos quienes decidan escuchar estas canciones un par de veces."

Dianoya-Obscurity Divine-Polish Rock Prog!

“Dianoya” banda polaca nacida en Junio del 2008 y compuesta por Janek Niedzielski y Maciek Papalski en guitarras, Filip Zielinski en voces, Lukasz Chmielnski en bateria, Adam Pierzchala en bajo.

Excelente disco debut “Obscurity Divine” siguiendo la saga de la enorme cantidad y calidad de bandas polacas contemporáneas como Anamor, Ankh, Quidam y, por supuesto, Riverside, probablemente, la más conocida de ellas.

Todo el disco se encuentra sumergido en una notable sensación de melancolía sin dejar de lado riffs de guitarra muy poderosos que dan paso a intrincadas bases rítmicas. Se encuentran cercanos al sonido Porcupine Tree, por momentos tiene aires floydianos, aunque han resaltado que no consideran su música como “rock progresivo”, sino solamente como “rock” dentro de todas las variantes que este entiltulado pudiera ameritar.

A pesar de ser la primer placa de la banda, podemos decir que en general suena extremadamente madura en estudios, por momentos, suena experimental, muy climático y poderoso al extremo.
